Creative Expression Workshops

For Therapists, Counsellors, Teachers, and Professionals

I offer workshops exploring creative expression as a way to support emotional well-being, reflection, and professional growth. These workshops are designed for therapists, educators, and other professionals seeking to deepen their connection with themselves and others through non-verbal, imaginative methods.

Why Creativity?

Creative expression invites us to move beyond logic and into the language of the heart. It provides opportunities for insight, emotional release, and connection. In professional settings, it can help prevent burnout, enrich self-awareness, and offer new ways to engage with clients, students, or service users.

What to Expect

Workshops are experiential, reflective, and inclusive. No artistic skill is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to explore. They may include guided imagery, journaling, use of symbols and metaphor, and gentle creative exercises that can be adapted into your own practice or setting.

Why Attend?

  • To learn in a safe, supportive, and reflective environment, with opportunities for both personal and professional growth.

  • Gain a deeper personal understanding of how creative expression can reconnect us with hidden or forgotten aspects of self.

  • Experience adaptable creative techniques that can be used with clients in therapeutic, educational, or pastoral contexts.

  • Develop confidence in facilitating expressive, non-directive exercises with clients, regardless of their perceived artistic ability.

  • Reflect on the role of creativity in supporting self-worth, resilience, and a stronger sense of identity.

  • Leave with practical resources and a clearer sense of how to integrate creative approaches into their professional practice.

No prior experience of art or creative writing is required โ€” the focus is on expression, exploration, and meaning-making rather than artistic skill.

๐ŸŒฟ Rediscovering Self in the Midst of Grief ๐ŸŒฟ

***This Workshop is now fully booked***

Grief isnโ€™t only experienced after bereavement. It can arise from many forms of loss, changes in health, relationships, identity, life direction, stability, or a sense of belonging. Grief can leave people not only feeling the weight of what has changed or been lost, but also a deep sense of losing parts of themselves. Shifts in identity, roles, and meaning can feel fragmented or unfamiliar, leaving individuals overwhelmed or unsure of who they are becoming.

This creative expression workshop offers therapists, counsellors, and professionals an opportunity to explore how grief impacts self-identity and how creative methods can gently support clients in rediscovering what remains and reconnecting with parts of themselves they can be proud of.

Through collage, drawing, and mixed-media exercises, we will explore:

  • Acknowledging loss of identity โ€“ making visible the changes grief brings.

  • Finding inner guiding lights โ€“ connecting with strengths, hope, and resources.

  • Reclaiming self โ€“ creating tangible reminders of identity, resilience, and worth.

You will not only engage in these practices for your own reflection, but also gain practical tools and insights to use with clients who feel lost or disconnected in the wake of grief.

โœจ This workshop offers a safe, creative, and deeply compassionate space for professionals to experience and learn methods that can help clients begin to re-find themselves while honouring their loss.

Date and time: Saturday 24th January 2026, 10.00am - 2.30pm. โ€œPlease note that the finishing time is approximate, as we allow space for group pace, discussion, and reflective processes.โ€

Location: Cleve Lodge, 23 Elm Ave, Long Eaton, Nottingham NG10 4LR

Cost: ยฃ40.00 per person (this workshop is limited to 12 delegates).

๐ŸŒฟ Beyond Words โ€“ Exploring Relationships ๐ŸŒฟ

Some relational experiences are difficult to put into words. Clients may feel confused, conflicted, emotionally overwhelmed, or unsure how to articulate what is happening for them, particularly when relationships are layered, longstanding, or emotionally charged.

Beyond Words is a creative expression workshop for trainees, counsellors and psychotherapists who want to expand their therapeutic toolkit when language alone feels limiting. Drawing on experiential and creative approaches, this workshop offers practical, ethically grounded exercises that support clients to explore complex relationships with themselves, loved ones, colleagues, or wider systems in a way that feels accessible and contained.

Through three experiential exercises โ€” including collage, reflective writing, and a creative take-away resource, participants will gain:

  • Practical creative exercises โ€“ to support clients when words feel difficult or unavailable

  • Greater confidence โ€“ using image, symbol, and metaphor in relational work

  • Relational insight โ€“ understanding how creative expression can reveal ambivalence, distance, closeness, and unmet needs

  • Ethical, trauma-informed practice โ€“ adapting creative methods safely and thoughtfully

  • Experiential learning โ€“ approaches you can take directly into clinical practice

The workshop is particularly suited to those supporting clients who struggle to find words for their emotional experience.

No artistic skill or prior creative experience is needed, just curiosity and openness.

Who is this for?
Therapists, counsellors, trainees, coaches, pastoral carers, and professionals who wish to deepen their skills in supporting clients who struggle to articulate their feelings.
